Seemantonnayana, popularly called Godh Bharai or baby shower, is one of the sixteen sanskars, performed in the seventh or eighth month of pregnancy. The pandit performs Ganesh and kuldevi puja, recites Vedic mantras for the mother and child, and guides the family in filling the mother’s lap (godh) with fruits, coconut and blessings.
